If the sun does not shine, there have to be other bright spots during the summer holidays. This is what Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University believes, and now, it opens the door to unemployed and business people who wish to spend the summer on competence development on a high, more extensive level.
For some years, Aarhus School of Business, Aarhus University has offered a number of courses at ASB Summer University targeted at students, and this year is no exception. However, this summer there is something new on the programme.
- These days, the need for supplementary education is great since many people are unemployed. Therefore, at ASB, we have decided to open the door to unemployed and business people who wish to take courses on a high level together with students and professors from all over the world, says Lene Augusta Jørgensen, Director of ASB Centre for Executive Education.
The admission requirements follow the current requirements for admission to higher educational institutions. Therefore, you need at least a bachelor degree in order to take master courses. Furthermore, as unemployed, you will have the opportunity to use the courses as six-week self-elected courses.
International insight
The summer courses will be taking place in July and August, respectively, and a wide range of courses in Business Administration and Business Communication will be offered in an international study and research environment.
A great amount of knowledge will enter ASB during the summer holidays, and not only unemployed but also business people, who feel that their practical knowledge needs an academic input, can benefit greatly from the range of courses and take part in bringing the international professors? knowledge into play.
- We value the international environment highly and are capable of attracting reputable professors from all over the world, who are carefully selected on the basis of their research and teaching qualification. This is also the case with our Summer University, which is visited by professors from places such as Japan, China, India and North America as well as the rest of Europe, says Frank Pedersen, Programme Director for ASB Summer University.
Additionally, a great part of the participants are international students, so it will be buzzing with languages and culture in the corridors during the summer.
Great competences
There are courses on both bachelor and master level, and they give 5 or 10 ECTS points, respectively, and last 3-4 weeks including examination.
- If the sun does not shine, we have to make sure that there are other bright spots, and of course, we hope that our summer courses can inspire the participants, pep up their competences and help sending more unemployed to work, says Lene Augusta Jørgensen and stresses that as unemployed, you need to contact your unemployment fund in order to receive guidance in connection with applying for admission to the courses.
